UNREST DENIED: Frustration after losing is not unusual
NATIONAL captain Safiq Rahim has denied any unrest at Darul Takzim, claiming dressing room arguments are a norm for a losing side. The star-studded Darul Takzim side were embarrassed 4-1 by Selangor in last weekend's Super League match and their players vented their frustration in the dressing room.
"I was not involved in any argument in the dressing room. I do not know why I'm being implicated.
"It is normal for players or officials to vent their frustration following a defeat.
"I was also upset as I wanted to make an impression against my former team," said Safiq in Kelana Jaya yesterday.
"We are like a family. Everyone (players) is treated the same regardless of status.
"Yes, we need to work on our game."
Safiq, who returned to national training for the first time this season after serving a two-match suspension, is determined to return to form and make an impact on the Asian Cup.
Malaysia need to beat Yemen on March 22 to reignite their hopes of qualifying for the tournament proper in 2015.
"I want to overcome my weaknesses and play well this season.
"I am not saying this to prove others wrong... I am doing so for self fulfillment.
"I thank my loyal fans for supporting my football," said Safiq, who has been criticised for his poor form of late.
